Katy Endress
Fundraising Chair
Katy has been a foster parent for nearly six years. Since that time, she and her husband have welcomed five kiddos into their home through foster care. Four have been reunited with their biological families, and one became part of their forever family. It has been a tumultuous journey as is often the nature of the foster care system. The uncertainty is very difficult for all involved. She hopes to provide some much-needed support for families experiencing the foster care system with Foster Village Peoria.
Academically, she is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Public Health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore with a focus on gun violence prevention. This specific path of study was motivated by the loss of a foster child’s biological father to gun violence here in Peoria. Professionally, she works as the Director of Epidemiology and Clinical Services at the Peoria City/County Health Department where she strives to improve the lives of the marginalized, eliminate health disparities, and create a more socially just world.
