Resource Closet Program
Our goal is to make life easier on caregivers and provide dignity and needed items to youth.
If you live in Peoria, Tazewell, or Woodford county you can request a welcome bag and/or a special request for your child if they qualify with one of the following criteria:
- The child was placed in your foster home within the last 30 days.
- The child was placed in your kinship/ relative care home within the last 30 days.
- The child reunified with you (biological family) within the last 30 days.
- The child is a teen in foster care that moved into an apartment in the last 30 days and working an independence goal.
- The child is part of a intact case plan and living with biological family.
(due to grant guidelines, we are unable to provide welcome bags for foster and kinship caregivers' biological children living in the home.)
Please note:Please do not submit a request until the child has been officially placed in your home.
NOTE: agency and caseworker information is required to ensure the validity of all Welcome Bag requests. Foster Village Peoria will reach out to the agency provided to confirm requests as needed. If you have not yet been assigned a caseworker, please instead provide the name of someone else you have been working with (licensing, investigator, etc.).
Please fill out a seperate form for each child.
Type of Requests:
1. Welcome bags
These include basic needs for a child:
- a couple days worth of outfits
- pajamas
- dental care items
- hair care products
- other tolietries
- blanket
- toy or/and comfort item.
- additional items like: diapers, wipes, make-up, journals--- when age appropriate.
Fill out a Welcome Bag REQUEST FORM HERE!
2. Special Request Items:
Due to lack of funding available at this time, Foster Village Peoria has closed our Special Requests program through the end of 2025.
We are still providing Welcome Bags, which can be requested via the link above.
If you are a caregiver looking for assistance for a specific item (i.e. bed, car seat, sensory item, school uniforms, etc.), please reach out to your agency caseworker for more resources to help you meet that need. We will be posting a document below that you can review to pursue other avenues of assistance to help meet that need too (coming soon)!
If you have questions about this change or need other resource information, please email our Resource Closet Coordinator Katie at katie@fostervillagepeoria.org.
